ANTONIO PETRUCCELLI

Antonio Petruccelli is typical of a certain generation of visually innovative American artists whose reputation suffered from an association with creating images for the general public in magazines and books. I visited him and stayed three weeks in Mount Tabor at his studio. The exhibition FORTUNE's America began in the Library of the University of East Anglia and transferred to the Rochester Institute of Technology where it received a warm and sympathetic staging from R.Roger Remington. For the full story click above to access the efforts of Phil Beard and Chris Mullen to do justice to Petruccelli.

This website is part of a promise I made to him to publicise his work which by the early 1980's was largely forgotten. Before I arrived in NJ he had been cautioned by the cops in a local Mall for defacing the covers of FORTUNE in an ephemera shop with his signature. The assistants were unmoved by his pleas that was the designer of the covers.
