Mlies Hadfield (1903-1982) was a pioneer Horticultural writer and consultant to whom English Garden Studies owes much He had been a studnet at Birmingham School of Art, the linear heritage of this being felt to the end of his career. He was an active botanical artist before 1939, and a consultant for the National Trust after. His papers are held by the Reading University Library.
