THE TIGER WHO LOVED ME

The tiger who loved me. ( A dream )

I once loved a tiger, and the tiger loved me.

He was the most beautiful, noble and majestic creature you could  ever wish to know.

I loved to watch him swimming in the river, sending rainbow droplets scattering out into the

sunbeams. I liked to imagine it in slow- motion, each drop of water, a shimmering jewel.

We would walk together in the cool of the evening, and he would tell me tiger- tales,

and when I tired, he would let me ride on his back.

We carried on in this way for many months, until the day came when I had to send him away,

because his caresses were too powerful, his embraces too voracious.

He said, " Although I love you dearly ,I'm afraid that I must leave you ,for I could not bear

to do you harm sweet kitten ."

I wept for the loss of his caresses, his eyes that mesmerised, and his winsome whiskers.

And though I later married to one of my own kind,

At night, when I heard him howling,

His stripes were seared into my soul.
