This was a sort of Gift Book for kids c1955, full of articles and illustrations by the great and the good.Clifford Webb's piece was one of the best I have ever seen in such publications, and, for some reason, the Zoo has this paradisic quality and real sense of place despite the need for everything to happen at the same time. It was a delight for me that such illustrations of the period are so generous with detail, recognising the child's need to undertake a visual journey at its own pace.
