Robert Lawson (1892 - 1957) author and illustrator, first took to illustration in 1914 just before he started in the American Camouflage Corps. He undertook more children's books after 1920. His papers are in the University of Minnesota. Famed for his whimsical humour, it tends to swamp his visualisation and his drawing sometimes looks slapdash. Heriatge did him proud with this publication in paper and printing stock, and not without their usual clunkiness of design. Page size 19 x 27 cms.
