BLAIR HUGHES-STANTON; 1902-1981 and a student at Leon Underwood's private art school where an enlightened programme of life drawing ('form, volume and movement..." ) gave him great momentum in his career. He married Gertrude Hermes, and later began a distinguished teaching career at Westminster School of Art, where he was an influence on Clare Leighton.
