WORK FOR FORTUNE

Antonio Frasconi was born in Argentina in 1919 but grew up in Urugual where his parents ran a restaurant in Montevideo. He admits to having started drawing pictures of Mickey Mouse, then contributing satirical drawings to Uruguyan newspapers.. His family moved to the United States in 1945 where he studied in the Art Students' League in New York. By the early 1950's he was generally regarded as a foremost printmaker active in wood cuts and engraving. He now lives in South Norwood, Conn.

Many thanks to Michael Ricker who has contributed enormously to this celebration of the artist's work.
