Marjorie (1884-1972) was a curator and illustrator, later designing the period rooms at the Geffrye Museum, Bath. Her husband Charles (1872 - 1935) was an architect. Their skills blended neatly to compile a four volume set of Everyday Things in England. I do like the serviceable even dogged line illustrations, often direct copies from photographs or other illustrators' work (e.g. Heywood Sumner). No harm in copying, say I, or adding colour to somebody else's line drawing. On the picture of the two men sawing you'll find their cute feline signature.
