Stanley Herbert, the consummate professional, matches Cecil Bacon in the creation of a vision of the countryside in the decade after the War using the sharp and contrasted medium of scraperboard. He worked as a commercial illustrator in a wide range of publications and also designed a London Trandport Poster in 1937. His ability to communicated the energy of animals in their surroundings has been trandferred to his grand-daughter, Mary Herbert.
