            There is a popular tradition in Western Art of depicting the behaviour 
            and foibles of human beings by giving the main characters in a composition 
            human bodies but also telling aspects of animals and birds. Celebrated 
            bodies of work by Goya and Thomas Landseer say attest to this. 
          
            Here is a series of prints commercially available at one shilling 
            plain and one shilling and six pence coloured. The lithographs are 
            signed by one "HNH" are dated 1829 and printed by K.Spencer 
            for the print dealer Engelmann.
