Harry Rountree

The Little Robinson Crusoes , illustrated by Harry Rountree, published by Nelson, London c1905; the page size is 21 x 25cms. This is a representative selection of his colour and line work. The flair of the ink drawing of the procession towards the horizon has the Rountree combination of good drawing and atmospheric sense of place. The colour wash in the cave at night is well handled and a great sense of perspective.

From the Weekly Illustrated October 1948, a feature on the great English illustrator and cartoonist performing in his local St.Ives pub.
