S.G.Hulme Beaman (1887 - 1932)


Began his career making puppets and toy theatres, while going to Heatherley's Art School (Evelyn Waugh was a pupil there later). He devised the immensely popular puppet and comic character of Larry the Lamb and other denizens of Toytown . He graphic style is a characteristic blocky, ersatz Cubist style, which is often highly inventive, and brightly coloured.
