FIVE NEW YORKER COVERS

Peter Arno 1904-1968 born Curtis Peters who changed his name to spare his family the notoriety of his work on The New Yorker . He favoured the one liner or sometimes no liner when the magazine often required a generosity of prose under the drawing.I have nevertheless included examples where the sheer weight of turgid prose is the point.
